INFFITECHASTANA, Kazakhstan – On May 16, 2026, the Astana Light Rail project officially began trial operations. This is the first urban rail transit project under the Belt and Road Initiative, and the first light rail in Central Asia built to Chinese standards. Its successful trial run sets a new example for China-Kazakhstan infrastructure cooperation.
